Common Questions About Our Children's Mattress
How do you ensure your mattress is Fire Retardant-compliant without chemicals?
Instead of using toxic chemicals, the foam in our kids mattress is wrapped in a specially-made tubular knitted fabric (often referred to as an FR sock) that is inherently flame retardant. Additionally, our fire barrier has been tested and certified by OEKO-TEX ®, which tests for harmful substances in textiles. Essentially, we rely on the properties of the materials themselves, instead of harmful chemicals, to achieve fire retardancy. Because chemicals have no place in a child's bed!
Are your products hypoallergenic?
Yes, all of our products are hypoallergenic.
What certifications does the 5 Little Monkeys Sleep System have?
Plenty! All 3 layers of foam in our children's mattress are CertiPUR-US ® Certified, which means they're made without formaldehyde, heavy metals, ozone depleters, TCEP flame retardants, chlorofluorocarbons, and phthalates regulated by Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The fabric used in our mattress cover is certified according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX (r), which means it meets the human ecological requirements for products with direct contact to the skin as well as the US requirement regarding lead in children's articles. We strive to always choose the healthiest option in building our kids bedding, and we're proud to say our certifications show it.

Does the mattress protector keep allergens out?
Yes! Our mattress protector is not only waterproof, it's designed to act as a barrier to dust, dust mites, pollen, and other allergens. This means your child won't have to worry about allergies as they sleep through the night.
Is the 5 Little Monkeys mattress fire safe?
It sure is! The 5 Little Monkeys mattress meets Federal Flammability Standard 16 CFR 1632 and 16 CFR 1633.
Do you use organic materials?
We're glad you asked! Our mattress cover, mattress protector, and pillow cover are made with organic materials – in other words, all the parts of our kids sleep system that your child comes into contact with – are all made using organic cotton. Not only that, your whole sleep system arrives in environmentally friendly packaging.
I've heard many mattresses contain dangerous chemicals. Does yours?
Absolutely not. Our kids mattress is made with foam that meets CertiPUR-US (r) standards for content, emissions, durability, and performance, and is analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories. It is made without CFCs (ozone depleters), without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants, without Mercury, lead or heavy metals, without formaldehyde or phthalates (air pollutants) - regulated by the CPSC.
Does your mattress have low VOC emissions?
Yes! Our mattress has low VOC emissions with less than 0.5 ppm for indoor air quality, so you won't have to worry about your kids bedding hurting your child's air quality.
